How do I correctly make a back up of my configuration?

Only admins have the ability to back up the configuration in the Conditional Fields app. We strongly recommend creating regular backups to safeguard your setup and simplify recovery in case of issues.

Backing up your configuration (Export)

Follow these steps to export your current configuration:

1. Navigate to the admin page of the Conditional Fields app.

2. Click the Save dropdown.

3. Select Export.

A pop-up window will appear displaying the configuration.

4. Click the copy icon to copy the configuration to your clipboard.

5. Paste the configuration into a text editor.

6. Save the file to a secure location.

💡 Tip: Use a descriptive filename and date for easier version tracking (e.g., cf-backup-2025-05-12.txt).

Restoring a configuration (Import)

To import a previously saved configuration:

1. Go to the admin page of the Conditional Fields app.

2. Click the Save dropdown.

3. Select Import.

4. Paste your previously saved configuration into the provided field

5. Confirm the import to restore your settings.

Why Should I Back Up My Configuration?

We recommend exporting and saving your configuration after every change. This provides a fallback in case something goes wrong with the app, allowing you to quickly restore your setup without losing time or data.
