Launching local Windows clients with parameters from Zendesk

Some ERP or CRM systems are not accessible via web interfaces and instead rely on traditional fat clients installed locally on the agent’s desktop.

These programs can also be launched directly from a URL, including from Zendesk using the Deeplinks App.

Requirements:

To enable this functionality, the following conditions must be met:

• The local client must support being launched with parameters (e.g., via command line or URL schemes).

• The browser used by the agent must have a registered custom protocol handler and must permit launching local applications.

URL Structure for the Deeplinks App

Here’s an example of launching the classic SAP GUI from Zendesk using a URL configured in the Deeplinks App. In this case, the link uses the EXTERNAL_ID of the organization:
